2012 Lotus Exige S Roadster

LOTUS EXIGE S ROADSER

The Exige has long existed in the Lotus range. Since 2004, the generation time of S2, itself a development of S1, the Exige Sport offers customers a radical solution, uncomfortable and very oriented circuit of the Elise. A version with a hard-top was introduced some years ago, but lacked a bit of flexibility to all, since a lack filled this week with the launch of the Exige S Roadster. Presented in grand style with the pilot "home" Kimi Raikkonen of Team Lotus F1 team, this new convertible is not as powerful as the Exige S.
If you are looking for consistency, go your way. Indeed, the Lotus Elise is a traditional roadster and Exige coupe. Nevertheless, the arrival of the Exige S Roadster should shake up the deal.

It is becoming a roadster, one that replaces the same time its retractable roof for a traditional canvas hood.

Like the Exige S "cut", this roadster version receives the same aesthetic attributes: ultra-wraparound bumpers, alloy wheels 5 spoke, rear diffuser, large stainless steel exhaust ... Anyway, can not be confused with a 4-cylinder version.

And for good reason. It's the mechanics of the Lotus Evora S, namely the Toyota 3.5 V6 officiating. Force-fed by a compressor, it develops no less than 350 hp. This means that the power / weight ratio breath away, because the animal weighs less than 1, 1 ton.

The performances are excellent, with a 0 to 100 km / h shipped in 4 seconds and a top speed of 233 km / h.

Stylistically, it receives a strong influence of the restyling of the Evora, particularly on the front. The block remains the same, a V6 3.5 L compressed to 350 hp and 400 Nm at 1,100 kilos Content, the convertible is available with a manual gearbox or six-speed automated-manual Serial Precision Shift (SPS). According to what announces Lotus, the Exige S Roadster promises a 0-100 km / h in 4.5 s for a standard consumption of 10.1 l/100 km and 236 g / km of CO2. On the chassis, the intervention of the soft top does not prevent Lotus to offer its dual suspension setup. "Standard", valid on road and track, the Exige S Roadster offers an optional "Race Pack", firming suspensions and removing up to rebound. Already spartan comfort will suffer.
